inverse faving: the act of faving deviations that that the viewer feels do not qualify as art, and/or to express their dislike of the deviation through faving it.
she does respectfully post that this may end up discouraging newer artists and promoting works that would not usually get any sort of recognition
the accounts that do the inverse faving i believe are in direct disregard of the "Abuse or Exploit of the System" as is explained in the FAQ #295 [link]
I have written to dA about this post and the users she named and the general idea behind their accounts. i sent it under policy inquiry as i wasn't sure which option i should choose below is said message:
I came across a few accounts that seem to be abusing the faving system. No they are not doing in the traditional way, they are inverse faving what they believe to not be art. Yes I do agree that some people post things that may not be considered art or even I consider art, even I have things similar to non-art pieces, but what is art is an argument that has gone on forever. Art is different for each person and that should be respected, and has up to this point on DA. Now, because of some people that want to get rid of the myspace-esque pictures they are doing far worse than just flaming certain types of pictures. Ionlyfavegarbage and ifavecrap seem to be the top two in this new attack against people. Besides faving things that they believe should be on myspace, they are also faving people that are beginner artists, people that are as we all are, still developing their craft and just happen to be in the earlier stages. I know that dA will mediate this situation, as they do have some suggestions in their journals that may be taken and considered by the creators and moderators of deviantart. but i for one respect da for the freedom it allows it's users. These users aren't the only ones as it is seen in this [link] they are putting it in others' heads that this is a good idea and should be carried out by anyone. This is going to discourage many young artists to not posting here which I know is not what dA wants. There is the courteous way of leaving critique to those that want it by commenting on deviations and this should be the only way of telling someone that you do not like their submission. Thank you for you time.
